Bankroll management in poker
When you play poker, no matter how well you play, you could lose in the short term. Then you should of course avoid losing your entire bankroll. Poker players do this with so-called bankroll management. This means that you handle your total assets well so that you do not lose everything at once.
The math behind bankroll management
Behind the idea of bankroll management in poker is very simple math. Suppose you have 1000 euros at your disposal. You have a 60% chance of winning 1000 and 40% of losing everything. Then of course you will lose your money. However, if you have $ 3000 and bet $ 1000, then the chance is only 40% ^ 3 = 6.4% chance of losing everything immediately.
The idea is that you have a greater chance of winning, but that you can also lose a few times in a row due to bad luck. If you apply bankroll management properly, you will absorb this loss until you start winning again. In the end you will always win again, after all you play good poker!
