How is Ace to Five Draw played?

With Ace to Five Draw, the aim is to make the lowest possible card combination with 5 cards. At the beginning of each hand, a small blind and big blind are placed, which are rolled over after each hand. Then each player is dealt 5 cards. Based on these cards, you decide whether you want to play with this hand. You can choose between a call , raise or fold. After this betting round is over, all players have the option once to discard one or more cards and then get new cards back. By discarding certain cards you can try to make an even better hand with the new cards. After everyone has possibly exchanged cards, there is one more betting round after which one showdown takes place. The player with the lowest hand wins the pot. If you choose to play Ace to Five Triple Draw, you will be given the option to discard one or more cards three times and therefore two extra betting rounds will take place.



It is important to remember that with this variant a straight and a flush do not count as a high hand ranking. Suppose you make 2-3-4-5-6 with 5 cards , this is not seen as a straight but as a low hand. Suppose you make 2-4-5-6-7 of hearts, this does not count as a flush. For example, a hand with 10 major ( 2-3-4-5-10)  loses to a hand with 9 major ( 2-3-7-8-9). 

  • Both hands have the same high card, 

For example  (2-3-5-6-8)  and  (3-4-5-7-8) . Then the hand with the lowest 4th card wins. In this case, 6 high wins from 7 high.
